Die Herausforderung

Der Erwerb des Geocaching-Tags ist die einfache Aufgabe.

Die eigentliche Herausforderung in dem Projekt ist es, das Maiksmännel so zu konstruierern, dass es den Strapazen der Reise stand hält und nicht nach wenigen Etappen in seine Bestandteile zufällt. Zwar sind die Maiksmännel stabil gebaut, aber normalerweise stehen sie ruhig im Regal.

Auf Reisen wird das Männel wesenlich mehr geansprucht. Augen, Arme und Hände sind dabei die Schwachstellen. Es gilt also ein Männel zu bauen, welches wesentlich robuster ist, als die "Normalen"....  

Das Reisemännel ist zweckentsprechend etwas anders konstruiert als die anderen:

es hat keinen Draht in den Armen der brechen kann; es hat Schlenkerbeine, die nicht steif sind; es hat nur aufgeklebte Punkte als Augen und keine Wackelaugen; Arme und Füße sind Kugeln und die Enden sind verschweißt. Hoffen wir mal, dass sie die Reise so gut überstehen werden...

The challenge 

Bying the Geocaching tag is the easy part of the project.

The challenging part is the construction of a Maiksmännel that can survive the long and aruous travel without breaking into its components. The Männels are solid buildt but usually they live a quit and peaceful life.

When travelling they will be stressed to their maximum. The weak points are the eyes, the arms and the hands. The challange is to create a Maiksmännel that is more robust and tougher than the rest (the "common ones") ...  

The travellers have an adequate design which is different from the others:

there is no wire core in the arms that could break; the legs are not stiff but dangling; there are no wiggly eyes but only glued on  ocular points; arms and legs are wooden balls where the rope tails are heat sealed. Hopefully they are well prepared to cope with the strains of travelling.
